Sukhum. April 9, 2021. Apsnypress. There was held a meeting of Coordination Headquarters for protection of population from coronavirus infection in the Cabinet of Ministers, chaired by Acting Prime Minister Vladimir Delba.

Following the meeting, it was decided to recommend President to extend restrictive measures until the start of vaccination in Abkhazia.

Deputy Chief of Staff of the Presidential Office Jansukh Nanba said that Abkhazia is awaiting the final decision of Russia on the date and volume of delivery of the vaccine against coronavirus infection.

He noted that the volume of production is still not enough for Russia itself, time is needed.

Nanba noted that within the next week there will be more detailed information on specific steps to vaccinate the population of the country.

Health Minister Tamaz Tsakhnakia informed about the epidemiological situation in the country.

“Today we see that the number of patients with severe and moderate forms of the disease is increasing in hospitals. At the same time, after the completion of the work of the Russian mobile hospital in Abkhazia, the load on the Sukhum infectious diseases hospital increased. There are now completing work on the opening of an intensive care unit for 8 beds. We provided them with artificial lung ventilation devices, consumables and equipment. We need to continue this work, ” Tsakhnakia said.

“Installation of oxygen tanks for uninterrupted centralized supply of oxygen to the main building of the hospital has been completed in Gudauta covid center. The centralized supply of medical gases in the infectious diseases department is functioning, the issue of supplying oxygen tanks to this building is being resolved," Minister of Health said.

At the same time, Tsakhnakia noted that the covid branches in the regions of Abkhazia are less loaded, but their work continues.

“The fact that today there is an increase in the number of infected people worry us, especially on the eve of the holiday season. The burden on the healthcare system will only increase. The most important thing is adherence to preventive measures. It is necessary to minimize the risks so that the infection becomes controllable, before we complete the first stage of vaccination. At least the decreed categories of our citizens should be vaccinated," Minister summed up.
