Sukhum. December 4, 2020. Apsnypress. Due to coronavirus pandemic, the budget of Abkhazia will miss more than one billion rubles. President Aslan Bzhania announced this on Thursday, December 3, at a meeting with members of the Public Chamber.

“Like the whole world Abkhazia did not know how to deal with coronavirus infection but now the situation has changed and stabilized. It has become much better in our country than in many other states where medicine is more developed, ” the head of state noted.

He also stressed that the state assumes the main costs of treating patients with coronavirus.

“It costs several tens of thousands of rubles to cure one patient with coronavirus infection, depending on the degree of the disease, and 90% of the cost of this treatment is covered by the state. Yes, sometimes it happens that at some stage there is not enough drugs, and relatives have to buy them. We have stationary places with a certain margin. Recently, we have seen an increase in the number of infected people, but it should be borne in mind that the number of tests carried out has also increased, ” Bzhania said.

Since the beginning of the year, the total amount of funding for measures to combat coronavirus infection has reached about half a billion rubles. This includes assistance from international organizations, and assistance from individuals, public organizations, and the state itself.

Touching upon the topic of restrictive measures in Abkhazia, and in particular, the fact that children do not go to school, Bzhania said: “We are well aware that children do not go to school, but we are faced with a choice between bad and very bad. The measures taken by the state and health workers are what will allow us to get out of this situation with the least losses. "

According to the head of state, the coronavirus pandemic has caused significant damage to the country's economy.

According to president's forecasts, the problem with coronaviruses will improve in the first half of 2021.
