Inal Ardzinba, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Abkhazia and Alexei Borisov, the Vice-President of the World Federation of UN Associations, First Deputy Chairman of the UN Association of Russia met at the Embassy of the Republic of Abkhazia in the Russian Federation.
Inal Ardzinba handed Alexey Borisov an appeal to António Guterres, UN Secretary General in which the Abkhazian foreign minister calls for granting the Republic of Abkhazia the status of the observer state in the United Nations, which allows participation in the discussions of the UN General Assembly.
Ardzinba stressed that according to the UN Charter, one of the key tasks of the Organization is the need to ensure equality of rights of large and small nations.
"We want the world to hear the voice of Abkhazia. We ourselves will tell the state of affairs in our country", - said the Minister.
The parties also agreed to hold the UN Sustainable Development Goals Forum in Abkhazia, which will be attended by Alexei Borisov and other international guests. The Forum is scheduled to take place in spring of this year.
