ON THE ISSUES DISCUSSED AT THE MEETING WITH PRESIDENT OF THE COUNTRY

Sukhum. August 20, 2021. Apsnypress. President Aslan Bzhania held a working meeting today on a number of topical issues of the republic, the President's press service reported.

The meeting discussed epidemiological situation in Abkhazia and measures to counter the spread of coronavirus infection, power system, issues of combating illegal cryptocurrency mining, as well as eliminating damage caused by nature.

The meeting was attended by the leadership of Presidential Administration and members of the Cabinet of Ministers, heads of state-owned companies.

Acting General Director of RUE "Chernomorenergo" Tengiz Girdzhinba reported on the industry. According to him, the daily consumption of electricity currently exceeds 5 million kWh, which is 500 kWh more than the norm. As Girdzhinba noted, there is a natural increase in electricity consumption due to holiday season.

Deputy Minister of Economy Teimuraz Mikvabia noted that 4,700 units of mining machines were disconnected throughout Abkhazia, of which 1,100 were exported outside the republic. Paid fines by a court decision in the amount of about 600 thousand rubles. There are claims for more than 14 million rubles in court proceedings.

The head of state instructed the government to prepare drafts agreements with investors for rehabilitation of differential hydroelectric power plants by October. Aslan Bzhania expressed dissatisfaction with the fact that work in this direction is not being carried out effectively enough.

Further, they discussed the issue related to consequences elimination made by natural disasters that took place on July 4, on the night of July 26-27 and August 16, and providing assistance to the affected population.

Prime Minister Alexander Ankvab reported on how the process of determining the damage caused and paying compensations to citizens whose property has suffered is proceeding. According to A. Ankvab, the damage from the hurricane amounted to more than 80 million rubles, excluding three burned down houses and 19 cars. In total, the disaster affected 231 houses. So far, compensations  to residents of the Gulrypsh district in the amount of more than 4 million rubles has been paid.

242 objects were damaged during the torrential rains. The process of calculating losses continues. It was noted that the state is making every effort to find the necessary funds to provide assistance to the victims.

Health Minister Eduard Butba reported on the fight against COVID-19 and measures taken to prevent the spread of coronavirus infection. According to him, the statistics of recent days gives reason to believe that there is a slight decline in the incidence. The state has created more than 500 beds for the treatment of patients in inpatient conditions. Despite the significant increase in its cost, oxygen is being purchased without interruption. It was noted that measures are being taken to resume the production of oxygen in Abkhazia on the basis of the SPTI.

The meeting also discussed the issue related to the computed tomography in Gudauta hospital, which caused a lot of controversy in the society.

Prime Minister Alexander Ankvab noted that he confirms his position on the need to purchase a new computed tomography apparatus. At the same time, he noted that in his statement at the meeting of the Coordination Headquarters he did not express any claims or insults to the Abkhaz businessmen who purchased the apparatus. “In my opinion, the seller misled the buyer,” Prime Minister emphasized.

According to Head of the Presidential Office Alkhas Kvitsinia, one can understand the indignation of entrepreneurs regarding the statement of the head of government at a meeting of the Coordination Headquarters. According to A. Kvitsinia, it was incorrect.

President Aslan Bzhania expressed gratitude to the patrons for their help in a difficult period. The head of state expressed his opinion about the need to repair the computed tomograph at Gudauta Covid Hospital and instructed the Ministry of Health to urgently conclude a contract for the purchase of the necessary parts for the repair and launch of the tomograph. At the same time, President noted that the state will also seek funds for the purchase of a new computer tomograph, since other medical institutions of the country also need such equipment. A number of other topical issues were also discussed at the meeting.
