It is planned to hold a number of meetings with the country's leadership, during which they will discuss issues of bilateral Abkhaz-Nicaraguan cooperation.

The head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Abkhazia Daur Kove will also take part in celebrations dedicated to the 42nd anniversary of the Sandinista revolution.

On September 3, 2008, the Republic of Nicaragua recognized the independence of the Republic of Abkhazia. On September 10, 2009, Abkhazia established diplomatic relations with Nicaragua.
