Sukhum. May 14, 2021. Apsnypress. Prime Minister heard a report on the impact of restrictive measures on the state of the banking sector in 2020, as well as on some results of the work of the regulator bank for 5 months of 2021 from the Chairman of the National Bank of the Republic of Abkhazia Beslan Baratelia. The website of the RA Cabinet of Ministers reported.

Baratelia noted that in 2020 Abkhazia received 2.2 billion rubles more than in 2019.

“Against the background of the coronavirus spread and restrictions associated with it, the banking sector had to resort to unpopular management methods to avoid shock consequences. During 2020, there was formed a gap, which was smoothed out by the end of the year. The balance of cash flows from current operations by the end of 2020 amounted to 2 billion 219 million rubles, ” Baratelia said.

According to the head of the Bank of Abkhazia, capital outflow in 2020 amounted to 29.9 billion rubles, and the inflow - 32 billion rubles.

As for the current year,  a “traditional” minus of inflow indicators was registered in January, and in February the inflow of funds began - a total of about 800 million rubles. The volume of non-cash transactions in Abkhazia has significantly increased, by about 4-5 times.

“On average per day over the past two weeks, there have been paid transactions up to 40 million rubles with cards of Russian banks. Such rates are usually observed only during the peak of the holiday season. This undoubtedly increases the transparency of our entrepreneurs' incomes, ” Baratelia said.

Prime Minister inquired about the work of the branches of Sberbank of Abkhazia serving pensioners.

According to Baratelia, there are no queues at the branches, Sberbank serves about 3 thousand pensioners a day.
