THE ELECTRICITY CONSUMPTION LIMIT IN ABKHAZIA EXCEEDED BY 27% IN FEBRUARY

Sukhum. February 24, 2021. Apsnypress. There was held an expanded working meeting on monitoring the ban of mining farms operation on February 23, under the chairmanship of Acting Prime Minister Valery Delba. The press service of the Cabinet of Ministers reported.

The meeting was attended by members of the Government, heads of regional and town administrations, heads of the State Customs Committee and Gosstandart.

According to RUE "Chernomorenergo", consumption increased by 100 megawatts in the republic over the last month.

“In January, consumption in the republic was 380 megawatts, today this figure has reached 485 megawatts. All substations are operating at their limit, above the rating, risking equipment failure. The consumers of substations "Sukhum-2", "IEPIT", "Baslata" are already experiencing inconveniences as a result of overloading. We will be forced to impose restrictions on consumption if such high loads remain,” said Mikhail Logua, General Director of Chernomorenergo.

RUE "Chernomorenergo" has set permissible limits for the period of repair of the Ingur HPP, taking into account possible peak loads, as well as taking into account the resumption of electricity consumption by educational institutions. According to power engineers, the increase in consumption is not natural and sharp.

Consumption exceeds the national limit by 27% in percentage terms.

According to the reports of the heads of regional administrations, raids are continuing in all districts. Large mining farms are disabled. However, problems remain with identifying small farms in private areas.

Representatives of the Customs Committee confirmed cases of cryptocurrency equipment export from Abkhazia (over 6,000 devices).

Based on the results of the discussion, Vladimir Delba instructed to minimize electricity consumption by strengthening raid measures, to prevent cases of internal migration of farms (from district to district). Delba also pointed out the need to create conditions for the unhindered export of mining equipment from the republic by simplifying customs procedures.
