PARLIAMENT RATIFIED THE AGREEMENT BETWEEN ABKHAZIA AND SYRIA ON THE MUTUAL VISA REQUIREMENTS FOR OWNERS OF DIPLOMATIC AND SERVICE PASSPORTS

Sukhum. February 3, 2021. Apsnypress. Members of Parliament have ratified the "Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Abkhazia and the Government of the Syrian Arab Republic on the mutual abolition of visa requirements for holders of diplomatic or service passports", signed in Damascus on October 5, 2020.

The document was presented by chairman of the parliamentary committee for international, inter-parliamentary relations and relations with compatriots Astamur Logua.

The agreement is aimed at strengthening the achieved bilateral relations between Abkhazia and Syria in terms of establishing mutual visa-free travel for citizens of the states-parties - holders of valid diplomatic or service passports.

The agreement also provides for the right of RA and SAR citizens - holders of valid diplomatic or service passports to enter, leave, follow transits and stay in the territory of the other side without visas for up to 30 calendar days.

The agreement establishes that citizens of the state of one party who are holders of valid diplomatic or service passports and are appointed to work in a diplomatic mission, consular offices of their state and representations of their state in long-distance organizations located on the territory of the state of the other party are exempt from the need to obtain a visa to enter, departure, transit and stay on the territory of this state during the entire period of accreditation.
